Ridge Off Roader thanks
30th March 2017
The Ridge Off Roader Committee would like to thank you all for your help to put on the Ridge Off Roader Half Marathon and 10k race. This year we took the brave step to move earlier in the year and to include a Half Marathon event as well for the first time in the hope of increasing the number of entrants - we certainly succeeded in this!
Some feedback from the runners (from Facebook and Twitter) for the races:
"well organised, well marshalled and great fun!"
"Muddy, hilly, wet & slippery but enjoyed every second of it"
"Great event! Brilliant marshals. So much mud! Rather sore legs!"
"Great HM today. Superb organisation. Wonderful marshals"
"Just thought it important to thank everyone that marshalled and helped me to get my sorry self around the half marathon today. This was my very first half and whilst it was an incredibly difficult experience, I can categorically state that it was only achievable with the support and cheering on of every marshal around the course"
From a financial point of view the event was a great success. We have raised in total over £9,500 from all of the races and HQ activities.
Thanks are due to so many people, ranging from the pre racing marketing and sponsorship, the marshals, the water tables, the car parking team, the signage laying (and collecting) team, those responsible for managing the road closures, the members of staff who gave up their weekend to help, the BBQ burger fryers, the BRSA cake sellers, the bag drop team, the people who showed on Saturday to set up HQ, the children's race routes and all of the tents, those who managed the 1k and 2k races on the day, and the magnificent timing and results to registration teams, who produced the results precisely on time for the prize presentation. And not forgetting the tidy-up team who stayed afterwards to make sure that the teachers had a clean school to teach in on Monday.
We couldn't put on such a large event without all of your help, many many thanks to you all.
If there is anyone who would like to be part of the Committee next year then please get in touch with one of the existing Committee, there are a range of roles up for grabs and it would be fantastic to bring some new people on board to ensure the future of the race.
