Lunches

Pupils eat lunches in the school hall at lunchtime, in two sittings. Below Ridge School offers hot dinners for all pupils. These are provided by Innovate (https://innovate2016.cashlessschool.co.uk), who provide lunches to 36 other primary schools. The meals are cooked by a 'hub kitchen' at a local secondary school (in our case John Hampden Grammar School) and transported hot to be served at lunch time. The meals are tasty and uptake of them is excellent within the school.

Currently, the school is required to provide 'universal infant free school meals' for pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. This means that all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with a hot dinner for free if parents wish to take this up. If you do not wish to take up the free schools meals in Key Stage 1 you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child.

Pupils in Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) are able to purchase a hot dinner at the cost of £2.30 per day. Alternatively, you are welcome to provide your child with a packed lunch. Lunches do not need to be ordered for everyday of the week, but the must be ordered the week before using Innovate's online ordering system.

If you think you might be eligible for a free school meal, please apply using the form below. The school receives additional funding for each pupil on free school meals, which directly benefits the child and the school. Click here for more information
